Congratulations to Leticia Lima, a health center assistant at our Capitol Hill center, who was one of the 2024 Beacon Award winners recognized by the Rhode Island Health Center Association (RIHCA) earlier this month. Every year, RIHCA honors employees who exemplify the mission of health centers as beacons of service and caring. “For me, the greatest reward is seeing how my efforts and learning contribute to the well-being of our patients,” said Leticia. “Helping them -- especially when they’re anxious or scared -- and seeing the smiles on children’s faces when they come in for their visits, is incredibly fulfilling. It motivates me to go the extra mile and make a positive impact in their lives.”

Leticia, who has been with PCHC for 21 years, was moved when she learned of her nomination. “It brought tears to my eyes, as I put my heart into my work every day,” she said. “Knowing that my efforts make a difference is incredibly rewarding. I love our patients and cherish my team!”

In noting the teamwork that exists between herself, Dr. Beth Toolan, and Kirsten Silverman, RN, Leticia said, “Together, we form a dream team, characterized by effective communication and mutual support. We collaborate to create a positive atmosphere, recognizing and valuing each other's strengths and skills.”

Leticia’s nomination read, in part: “She is an integral member of the pediatric team, treating her patients like family, and they always look forward to seeing her. Many patients have grown up with her and continue to seek her out even when they are no longer in pediatrics. When Leti has a day off, the team and patients genuinely miss her presence. She is always willing to learn new things and improve our clinic, often developing more efficient ways to do things. She always puts 100% effort into her work. Her hard work is noticed by the pediatric team and other departments that she may cover. She deeply loves her job.”
